Addiction and mental health struggles don’t happen to one person in isolation — they ripple through a whole family. Our Family Program gives loved ones the education, language, and support to be part of the healing, not just bystanders to it.

Structured sessions with a licensed therapist alongside your loved one, when appropriate.
Practical education on addiction, codependency, and the recovery process itself.
Concrete tools for setting boundaries that protect you without cutting off connection.
Periodic group sessions for families to learn and connect with others in similar situations.
One-on-one time for family members processing their own experience, separate from the client’s treatment.
With appropriate consent, your loved one’s therapist stays looped in on family sessions.
Families often carry years of worry, resentment, and exhaustion by the time a loved one enters treatment. Our Family Program treats that experience as real and worth addressing in its own right — not just as a supporting role in someone else’s recovery.
You don’t need to have a loved one currently enrolled at Nura Recovery to take part. Many families join us simply because they need somewhere to understand what they’re living through and how to respond to it differently.
Questions families often ask before their first session with us.
You’re always welcome to join sessions designed for family members on your own. Joint sessions involving your loved one’s treatment team require their consent, in line with standard confidentiality protections.
No — we welcome family members whose loved one is receiving treatment elsewhere, has completed treatment, or is not currently in any program at all.
The Family Program can still help. Many family members join specifically to learn how to respond, set boundaries, and take care of themselves while a loved one is not yet ready for treatment.
Coverage varies by plan and by whether sessions are billed alongside a client’s treatment. Call (415) 747-4050 and our team will help verify your specific benefits.
We offer a mix of scheduled family therapy sessions and periodic workshops; frequency is set based on your family’s needs and your loved one’s treatment timeline.
Yes. The Family Program is open to any family member affected by a loved one’s substance use or mental health challenges — partners, parents, siblings, and adult children are all welcome.
